For Lent last year, more than 400,000 people tweeted what they were giving up during the week of Ash Wednesday. The top five choices: School, chocolate, Twitter itself, alcohol, and social networking.

Here’s the full list of the top 100 ideas of 2015, as well as the top 100 ideas of 2014when almost 650,000 people shared their abstentions.

Though such ideas have consistently proven popular ever since’s Stephen Smith began tracking Lent in 2009, his annual lists—a mix of the sincere and the sarcastic—often reflect larger trends or current events.
