Join the Week of Guided Prayer
Why a focus on prayer?
We have noticed that over this time of the pandemic interest in prayer has increased phenomenally. So we are offering the Week of Guided Prayer to provide some support and encouragement for your life of prayer – a key practice in embodying the ways of Jesus.
What is the Week of Guided Prayer about?
It is a way of setting aside time for a week to focus on your life of prayer. It will require you to set aside time during each day for prayer (20-30 minutes), as well as to meet (virtually) with a trained prayer guide. Your guide will listen to you, give you some suggestions for prayer and also introduce you to new ways of praying. Together you will look at your faith history: where you have noticed God’s presence or absence in your life, as well as your image of God. Please note: Although the Prayer guides are trained listeners who will be able to accompany you and will be in supervision, they are not professional counsellors. Also, be aware that you will not be expected to do anything that will make you feel uncomfortable.
How is it structured?
It starts with a group Zoom “Opening Session” on Saturday 6 June 2020 from 10:00 – 11:00. You will virtually meet with your guide for 30 minutes each day for a week at a mutually convenient time. And finally, on Saturday 13 June we will meet on Zoom for the “Closing Session” from 10:00 – 11:00.
