1 John 1:1-7
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at, and which our hands have touched, this we proclaim concerning the word of life. This life appeared, and we have seen it, and we testify to it. And we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship, fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ, and we write this to make our joy complete.
This is the message that we heard from Christ and which we declare to you. God is light and in God there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with God and yet we walk in the darkness we lie and we do not live by the truth. But, if we walk in the light, as God is in the light, we have fellowship. We have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.
“To believe in the Triune God who does not remain aloof from the world is to believe in a God who is free to be compassionate towards us, free to become vulnerable for our sake, without ceasing to be God.“ – Migliori
“If there is anything the post-modern generation is teaching us it is this: that humans are cracked; and the crack winds, like the great Mississippi, right through the middle of the country of our heart.“ – Scott McKnight
“If we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin.”
- Vulnerability is an essential part of who we are becoming in Christ
- Jesus holds us in God’s vulnerable and unconquerable love
- If we hide our weakness, we also hide our beauty
- We are made for connection:
- We need to have courage
- You are imperfect, you will struggle, but you are worthy of love and belonging.
