Four steps downward to greatness
by Karen Krige
Most of us don’t like the idea of being the least, like Jesus’ disciples who were gathering together for the Last Supper. They were arguing about who would be the greatest.
And Jesus said to them, “Let the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves. For who is the greater, the one who relaxes at table or one who serves? Isn’t it the one who relaxes at table? But I am among you as the one who serves. (Luke 22:26-27)
So we need to grapple with what it means to be a servant.
