Carpe Missio Dei   (gryp die missie van God) 

• We are confused about the mission
• We are confused about the gospel
  

We need to understand both because we want a gospel shaped mission and a mission shaped gospel

Common misunderstanding…

• gospel is about getting people to heaven
• mission is about telling people about heaven
  

But is that what Jesus was about?
Is that what the gospel is about?

How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!”  Isaiah 52.8

What is Jesus about?

• Gospel is about peace/shalom/wholeness
• Jesus is about the same
  

Let’s ask some questions…

• Why were they upset with Jesus?
• The Servant Songs of Reversal were for the end of time. Isa. 29,35,42,52-53,61
• Jesus also made allusion to including those thought to be outside
  

What does this mean to mission?
